6/20/2018 0 Comments Moving to nourishMoving your body every day can be a beautiful way to nourish yourself. But, we live in a culture that constantly drills into us the idea that exercise is all about burning calories. So we force ourselves into some type of movement with the mindset that "if I workout for X amount of time then I will burn off X number of calories." This often turns the exercise into something we dread or into a "have to." What if, instead, we approached our workout with the mindset of, "moving my body allows my mind to let go of the day's worries, gives me time to connect with God, feeds my soul and spirit with quiet, rejuvenated energy." Wouldn't this turn your exercise into something more nourishing than punishing?

5/18/2018 1 Comment Inner Re-ConnectionWhen you are feeling a bit "off..." tired, anxious, irritable...it can often mean you need to re-connect with your inner life. When you find yourself snapping at your children, yelling at other drivers, or being short tempered with your spouse or a co-worker, it's time for a self check-in. In the moment you notice this "off" mood, it can help to take a deep breath and ask yourself, "What do I really need right now?" It could be something as simple as a 5 minute break from whatever you are doing at the moment. It may be you haven't had time to yourself all day. Maybe you are just hungry and need a snack or meal. It might be time to take a technology break and go outside. Maybe God needs your attention. Maybe your emotions just need to be recognized. Whatever it is, try to allow some space for that need to re-connect.
4/20/2018 0 Comments Have-to's vs. Want-to'sFeeling stuck in the have-to's when I really crave the want-to's...
What would it look like if for just one day, we did the want-to's BEFORE the have-to's? I know this is hard to even imagine. Many of my days are full of getting this done, then that, oh, and then more of this. My to-do list, my "I must" list, my have-to's take over my entire day so that by the end, I have little energy left for the want-to's. And which ones really nourish me? Usually the want-to's. So, just for one day, try to put at least one want-to BEFORE a have-to and see what happens. I don't think the world will end (even though it does feel like it sometimes). Let something go and nourish. Just for today. (and by have-to's, I mean those things that are self-imposed. Not your job or family commitments. For me, it's things like laundry, cleaning the house, etc.). See what you discover! 2/21/2018 0 Comments All you need to do is breathe...An easy breathing exercise to bring you into calm: As you breathe in, create a space inside yourself. As you breathe out, feel yourself in that space. As you breathe in, create space for God. As you breathe out, allow God to fill that space. As you breathe in, connect with God. As you breathe out, listen to God. As you breathe in, feel His Spirit. As you breathe out, surrender. God is in control. Repeat as many times as needed. God is grounding you. 11/17/2017 0 Comments Where does it all begin?Healing is a journey. Not a destination. It is a path we choose to follow. The path is unique to each person. And we find our path often times by symptoms. Symptoms in our body, in our mind, in our spirit. Your symptom is a message. A message to bring your attention, your awareness to some area of your life that may be lost or misguided. You have a choice to listen and follow this message. Use it to empower you to take steps toward changes that can fill you with more bounty for living. 11/1/2017 0 Comments Welcome to my blog! This is a place where I will be sharing thoughts, inspiration, suggestions, wisdom, hope, and above all, nourishment for your journey.
